What the course is

The course, read.

For quantitatively-minded graduates targeting banking, asset management, fintech or corporate finance. Recruiting timelines here are early and unforgiving, and we plan for them.

01 / 03

Learning outcomes

Read markets and value anything.

Corporate finance, valuation, derivatives, financial modelling and risk. Many programmes align with the CFA curriculum and embed practical modelling work.

CFA-aligned content on many programmes.

02 / 03

Industry relevance

Where the recruiting pipeline is built.

London and New York anchor global finance; the UAE is the emerging-markets gateway. We shortlist on the city and the desk you’re targeting, not just the ranking.

Recruiting calendars mapped per market.

Why students choose it

One year, in the city that hires.

A one-year UK MSc places you inside the financial centre during recruiting season. For finance, proximity and timing are a large part of the outcome.

Applications timed to recruiting cycles.

Before you apply

What you’ll need.

A four-point self-check. If a row surfaces a gap, we’ll route you to the right prep to close it. Before the application opens, not after.

  1. 01 Academic Must meet

A 2:1 (or international equivalent) Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Maths, Engineering or a quantitative field.

Quantitative grounding is scrutinised closely. Some programmes ask for GMAT/GRE; we tell you which and which waive it.

    2:1 Minimum band
  2. 02 English language Must meet

IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 6.0. Equivalent PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT scores accepted.

Below band? Prep first. Reapplying weaker rarely lands.

  3. 03 Documents Must meet

Transcripts, two academic references, statement of purpose, CV, passport scan.

The SoP is the lever most candidates underestimate. We co-edit it with you, free, as part of the application support.

    5 Document set
  4. 04 Work experience Recommended

Not required for most MSc Finance routes. Internships in banking or markets strengthen competitive applications.

Questions, answered

Finance FAQ.

Eligibility first, then fees, outcomes, and application logistics.

How quantitative does my background need to be?

For most MSc Finance programmes, fairly. Admissions check your maths and statistics record closely. Economics, Engineering and Maths graduates are well placed; we read your transcript honestly before you apply.

Does the degree help with the CFA?

Many MSc Finance programmes are CFA-aligned and cover much of the Level I curriculum, which shortens your path. The CFA itself is a separate qualification. We flag which programmes align.

UK or US for finance?

UK for a one-year format and London proximity; US for capital-markets depth and a two-year window with internship recruiting. The right answer depends on your target desk and budget. The free call settles it.

When should I apply?

Early. Finance recruiting and competitive scholarships move months ahead of the intake, and the strongest programmes fill on a rolling basis. We time the application to the recruiting cycle, not just the deadline.

What does Transitley handle?

Shortlisting, SoP and CV co-editing, references, financial documentation and visa filing. One counsellor across the cycle, free for the first conversation.
