What the course is

The course, read.

A studio-led Master’s for designers specialising in product, graphic, UX or communication. The portfolio is the application; the school sets the design culture you’ll work in.

01 / 03

Learning outcomes

Design with depth, and a body of work.

Studio projects, design research, prototyping and a major final project. You leave with a refined portfolio and a point of view, the two things studios actually hire on.

Final project is the assessed core.

02 / 03

Industry relevance

Each city teaches a different practice.

Italy anchors product and fashion design; the UK leads graphic and communication; the US drives tech and UX. We match the school to the discipline and the studios you want to reach.

Studio links factored into the shortlist.

03 / 03

Why students choose it

A portfolio that opens studios.

A Master’s from a recognised design school sharpens your craft and your book, and plugs you into a network of studios and alumni. For designers, that network is the route in.

We help frame the portfolio before submission.

Before you apply

What you’ll need.

A four-point self-check. If a row surfaces a gap, we’ll route you to the right prep to close it. Before the application opens, not after.

  1. 01 Academic Must meet

A Bachelor’s in Design or a related creative discipline, typically a 2:1 or international equivalent. A strong portfolio can offset a borderline transcript.

The portfolio is the decisive part of the application. We help you frame, edit and sequence it before submission.

    2:1 Minimum band
  2. 02 English language Must meet

IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 6.0. Equivalent PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT scores accepted.

Below band? Prep first. Reapplying weaker rarely lands.

  3. 03 Documents Must meet

Transcripts, a design portfolio, a statement of purpose, two references, CV and passport scan.

The SoP is the lever most candidates underestimate. We co-edit it with you, free, as part of the application support.

  4. 04 Work experience Recommended

Not required. Internships, freelance or live client work strengthen the portfolio and the application.

Questions, answered

Design FAQ.

Eligibility first, then portfolio, fees, and application logistics.

How much does the portfolio matter?

It’s decisive. A strong portfolio can outweigh a borderline transcript, and a weak one undermines a strong academic record. We help you frame, edit and sequence it before you submit.

Can I switch design disciplines for my Master’s?

Often, yes, for example graphic to UX, or product to service design, if the portfolio shows transferable thinking. We’ll tell you honestly whether your book supports the switch.

Italy, the UK or the US?

Italy for product and fashion, the UK for graphic and communication, the US for tech-driven and UX design. We match the school to your discipline and the studios you want to reach.

Do I need to speak Italian?

Many Italian design Master’s are taught in English. Some are not. We shortlist English-taught programmes unless you want a local-language route, and flag the language bar early.

What does Transitley handle?
