Master’s · AI & Machine Learning

The course read. The fees named. The seat chased.

What the course is

The course, read.

Built for engineers and CS graduates who want production-grade ML competence, not a six-month theory rush. UK-anchored, fully accredited, taught by faculty who publish.

01 / 03

Learning outcomes

Ship and own production ML systems.

End to end: model selection, MLOps pipelines, monitoring, ethics. The final-term capstone is a real industry brief, supervised jointly by faculty and a partner company.

Capstone partners vetted annually.

02 / 03

Industry relevance

Aligned with where AI is actually hiring.

Curriculum tracks current UK and EU AI demand: deep learning, NLP, applied research, ML engineering. Half of last year’s cohort entered research-adjacent roles within six months of graduating.

Reviewed by an industry advisory board each year.

03 / 03

Why students choose it

A cohort of eighty, not eight hundred.

One of three UK Master’s that integrate with Russell Group research labs. Cohort capped at 80, which is why the supervisor knows your name instead of a roster number.

1:8 student-to-supervisor ratio. Confirmed at intake.

Before you apply

What you’ll need.

A four-point self-check. If a row surfaces a gap, we’ll route you to the right prep course to close it. Before the application opens, not after.

  1. 01 Academic Must meet

A 2:1 (or international equivalent) Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.

Programming proficiency (Python preferred) and linear-algebra fluency assumed. Portfolio strongly recommended for borderline applications.

    2:1 Minimum band
  2. 02 English language Must meet

IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 6.0. Equivalent PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT scores accepted.

Below band? Prep first. Reapplying weaker rarely lands.

  3. 03 Documents Must meet

Transcripts, two academic references, statement of purpose, CV, passport scan.

The SoP is the lever most candidates underestimate. We co-edit it with you, free, as part of the application support.

    5 Document set
  4. 04 Work experience Recommended

Not required. Applied projects (Kaggle, open source, internships) materially strengthen borderline applications.

Questions, answered

MSc AI / ML FAQ.

The questions every applicant asks. Grouped by intent: eligibility first, then fees, outcomes, and application logistics.

Do I need a CS background to apply?

Most accepted applicants come from CS, Maths, Engineering, Physics, or Statistics. We have placed candidates from Economics and Finance with strong applied projects. The gate is quantitative fluency, not the exact degree title. We’ll read your transcript honestly on the first call.

What’s the actual total cost for year one?

Tuition averages £29,400 across the cohort. Add visa, IHS, and London-rate living of roughly £15,000 to £19,000. The full year-one number we put on the first call sits between £48,000 and £52,000 for London-based study, less outside London. No marketing range. A real number.

What kind of jobs do graduates actually take?

ML Engineer, Applied Scientist, Research Engineer, Data Scientist (senior track), AI Product Manager. About a quarter of the 2025 cohort entered research roles at the labs they interned with during the capstone. The UK PSW visa gives you two years to convert.

How long does the visa take after admission?

UK Student Visa averages 11 days post-CAS. Same-week filing once your documents pack is complete. Visa support is included. You don’t pay separately for it after we take your admissions case.

Can I apply with my IELTS retake pending?

Yes. Conditional admission lets us file with a pending English score. If you’re currently below band, sit our IELTS prep course alongside the application; it’s built around the AI/ML cohort timeline.

What does Transitley actually do, vs. applying myself?

SoP co-editing, programme-fit interview, transcript translation, reference chase-up, financial documentation, visa filing, CAS tracking, and arrival logistics. One counsellor, one timeline, free for the first conversation. If your case is straightforward, we say so.

Are there scholarships?

Most UK MSc AI scholarships are merit-based, between £3,000 and £12,000. Chevening, Commonwealth, and institution-specific awards are open routes for international applicants. We map you to the realistic ones during the consultation. Not a sales list.

What if I’m not sure this is the right course for me?

Tell us. The first call is free precisely so we can read your case before you commit to a year and £50k. If MRes or a different programme area is the better fit, we’ll say so. On this call, not after the deposit.
